Hey, so it’s been a while. Sarah has already told all of you her Star Wars rankings, and I’m sure everyone has just been giddy with anticipation of Alex’s ranking. It is very different from Sarah’s apart from the top two. While Sarah had the awesome experience of experiencing the Original Trilogy in her teens where she can still remember it, I grew up with them and can’t remember the first time I saw them. The original trilogy absolutely has a special place in my heart and I was the prime target audience, especially for the greatest tactical force in the galaxy, the Ewoks.
A big reason I am thankful for growing up with the Original Trilogy is that I grew up with the original versions and am an original version purist. While I respect if you like the newer alterations that Lucas made, I feel it dismisses the work of the original special effects team – that won Oscars – to claim that those versions are inferior.
I was the target audience when the Prequels came out, and for a few years I loved them, or more likely loved the action. When I got older, about the time that Revenge of the Sith came along, I became a Prequel Trilogy hater. I remained this way for the better part of my adult life, but I have Sarah to thank for turning me around on the beauty of the Prequels, especially The Phantom Menace.
My rankings have changed over time, especially my rankings of the Prequels, and my ranking will continue to change as I age. What will likely not change is my worst film as it was a swing and a miss, without much of an effort at saying anything important. Prepare to be shocked by my second to worst.
Without further ado, here is my ranking.
- The Last Jedi
- The Empire Strikes Back
- Return of The Jedi
- Star Wars (A New Hope)
- The Phantom Menace
- The Force Awakens
- Attack of The Clones
- Revenge of the Sith
- The Rise of Skywalker
