This is a loooooooong time coming. Now that the website is live, it’s time for us to tell you all little bit more about ourselves and our favorite parts of the Star Wars fandom! We’ll start with Sarah
I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I was in junior high. To date myself, that was towards the end of the release of the prequel trilogy. I remember having this very distinct, likely over-analytical and over-dramatic thought: “I should sit down and watch all 6 of the Star Wars movies now that the story is complete. I have a couple people I look up to in my life that really like Star Wars, so I should see what this cultural phenomenon is like.”
OK, maybe not those EXACT words. But something along those lines.
So, I sat down one day and started at the beginning – Episode I: The Phantom Menace. I shake my head at my younger self. I was so worried I wouldn’t understand it! I had no trouble understanding it.
With each movie I watched, my excitement and interest for Star Wars grew. By the end, I was a fan. As I re-watched the movies over and over, I read some philosophy and psychology books looking at the Star Wars films and loved the discussions there. I tried to venture into the Extended Universe but felt overwhelmed by all the content (and to be honest, gate-kept out of it since I hadn’t been there since the beginning). I did manage to read the Original Thrawn Trilogy, so my taste of the EU was very good (talk about The Force being with me!).
It wasn’t until Disney purchased Lucasfilm and announced they were cleaning slate and rolling out their own content did I take the deep dive into this galaxy. I felt with this a new era, it was a great time to go where I hadn’t gone before – the deep cuts of books and TV shows and podcasts and YouTube theory videos to fully immerse myself. In my memory, this is when I truly became a Star Wars fan. But it’s always been there, deep inside me.
From the Star Wars themed class projects to the failed movie marathons on summer break to the handmade Star Wars quilt I brought to college, I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I first heard the first horn fanfare and saw those magnificent, bright yellow words “STAR WARS” came across the screen.

It’s OK if you disagree! That makes conversations richer since we see things from different points of view. But we don’t need to insult others in the process of sharing what we love and our ideas or opinions.
